Routine for Daily Memorization of Quraan, Ahadith, or Duaas, etc.

Routine for Daily Memorization of Quraan, Ahadith, or Duaas, etc I made this routine up to give my kids guidance when they are independently memorizing ayaat, ahadith, or duaas in hopes of making their sessions more efficient. (The formatting below is a little whacky as it came from a Word document, but there is a PDF copy available--see link above.) I attached the routine to the inside of the kids' Islamic studies student organizers so it is handy.

1.      Review:      Recite the ayah/ line from last session (without looking) and everything that comes before it. If you have trouble, then rework on it this session, if not, move on to the next ayah/line to be memorized.

If you are learning the vocabulary of the ayah/line, then use flashcards (or have someone quiz you) to review the meaning of each word.
2.      Read:          entire surah (short surahs only), entire duaa, or hadith all the way through 3 times ALOUD  (preferably with an audio to hear the correct pronunciation)

3.      Read:          target ayah, line of duaa or section of a hadith 10x aloud (preferably with an audio)

4.      Vocabulary:         If you are learning the vocabulary of each ayah/line,  use/make flashcards and review  the target ayah/line’s vocabulary (or practice the vocabulary with a worksheet or other method)
5.      Repeat       In pyramid style…(the target ayah/line)

6.      Write the target line in pyramid style 3-5x each (say as you write)
7.      Test Yourself      Repeat the target ayah/line 10x without looking.
8.      Recite to someone      the target ayah/line 10x everything before and including the target ayah line/10x
If you can do this successfully, then move onto the next portion at the next memorization session
the first word 20-30x
the second word 20-30x
the first two words 20-30x
the third word 20-30x
the first three words 20-30x
etc.’ til the end of the target ayah/line
