Sample Quraan Memorization Session Routine for Shorter Surahs

This is a little routine I worked up for my kids for when they need to work independently on Quraan Memorization/Study. You can alter the number of repetitions to fit each student.
  1. Read the whole surah in Arabic 5 or more times.
  2. Listen to a Qaari (if possible) AND read the target ayah only along with the Qaari, 5 or more times.
  3. Read the target ayaah by yourself in Arabic 20x or more.
  4. Work on memorizing target ayah pyramid style (start with one word, then add on the next word and recite the first two words, then the first three, etc) or any method you choose.
  5. Write the target ayaah in Arabic 3-5x or more.
  6. Test yourself on the target ayaah by seeing if you can say it from memory 10x. If you can't, remain working on memorization until you can.
  7. Once have successfully been able to say the target ayaah by heart at least 10x with no mistakes, read target ayah and ones before, in order, 10x.
  8. Try to say all ayaat up to and including target ayah by memory 10x.
  9. Have someone listen to your recitation of your target ayaah and the ones before if you can complete step 8 with no mistakes.
Post it on the wall or in student's organizer, binder, or Quraan notebook.
